Why get an asbestos roof inspection?
Many Australian roofs installed before the early 1990s used fibrous cement and other asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). Weathering, renovations or roof repairs can disturb these materials and release hazardous fibres.
A professional roof inspection confirms whether ACMs are present, assesses their condition, and provides a documented pathway — whether that’s safe management, testing, or licensed removal.
- Identify potential asbestos sheeting and damaged areas
- Sample collection and accredited laboratory testing
- Clear written report with next steps and compliance guidance
What our asbestos roof inspection covers
From a visual roof assessment to safe sample collection and an accredited lab report — we cover every step with safety and compliance in mind.
Visual roof assessment
A licensed inspector checks roof sheeting, ridges, eaves and flashings for likely ACMs, weathering, and damage — with photographic records.
Safe sampling
If required, we collect small, controlled samples using wet methods and containment. Samples are double-bagged, labelled and chain-of-custody documented.
Accredited lab testing & reporting
Samples are sent to NATA-accredited labs. You receive a detailed report explaining results, risk level and recommended next steps — whether monitoring, management or removal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do all old roofs contain asbestos?
Not all older roofs contain asbestos, but many fibrous cement and some other roof sheeting installed before the early 1990s are likely to. A visual inspection and, where appropriate, testing will confirm whether ACMs are present.
Is it safe to walk on the roof during an inspection?
Safety is our priority. If roof access is unsafe or could damage sheeting, our inspector will carry out a close visual assessment from a ladder or use remote photography. We follow Safe Work Australia guidance at all times.
Will you always take samples?
Not always. If the visual assessment is clearly consistent with non-ACM materials or the risk is low, sampling may not be necessary. Where identification cannot be confirmed visually, we recommend controlled sampling and lab testing.
How long until I get the test results?
Typical turnaround from an accredited lab is 3–7 business days depending on workload and test type. We’ll advise expected timing when collecting samples and provide the full report once results are received.
