asbestos remediation costs
A clear, practical guide to what influences price and how C&A delivers fixed-price, documented remediation across Australia.
Fast, licensed asbestos removal with transparent pricing — free no-obligation quotes and full disposal documentation.
Licensed, Safe Work Australia compliant — documented results after every job.
Why asbestos remediation costs vary
There is no single price for asbestos remediation. Costs depend on the type of asbestos-containing material (ACM), how much there is, where it is located and what controls are required to keep people safe during removal.
-
Quantity & type of ACMSmall, isolated panels cost far less than large roofs or extensive friable materials.
-
Friability & conditionFriable materials (easily crumbled) require stricter controls and are more expensive to manage than intact sheet materials.
-
Access & working heightRoof work, multi-storey access, or tight spaces can add time and equipment costs (scaffolding, elevated work platforms).
-
Disposal & transportTransport distance to an EPA-licensed facility and disposal fees vary by state/region and will influence the total cost.
-
Time-sensitive or emergency workUrgent removals or after-hours work can attract higher rates due to mobilisation and staffing requirements.
Indicative price ranges (Australia) — for planning only
These examples are indicative. A fixed-price quote from C&A follows a site assessment and scope confirmation.
Small inspections & single-panel removals
Minor repairs or single small panels
Indicative: $300 – $1,000
Includes assessment, removal, double-bagging and disposal documentation for small volumes.
Sheds, fences & small roofs
Typical single-structure removals from residential properties
Indicative: $1,200 – $6,000
Range depends on size, access and disposal distance.
Large roofs, commercial & complex sites
Extensive roofing, multi-panel removals, or commercial projects
Indicative: $6,000+
Large projects vary widely; full quotes include risk controls, air monitoring and disposal fees.
All figures are indicative — final price will be provided in a written, fixed-price quote after inspection. C&A provides transparent line-item quotes so you know what is included.
Common asbestos remediation methods
Non-friable sheet removal (roofing, fences, wall sheeting)
We use wet methods to suppress dust, carefully remove intact sheets panel-by-panel, double-bag or wrap waste, and label for transport to licensed disposal facilities.
Typical controls: wetting, exclusion zones, PPE, secure transport and disposal documentation.
Friable asbestos & poor condition materials
Friable materials require stricter isolation, containment (temporary enclosures or negative-pressure units) and controlled waste handling. Air monitoring is often recommended before re-occupation.
These jobs are higher-cost due to equipment, monitoring and specialist handling.
Encapsulation & repair (where removal isn't required)
For some intact materials, encapsulation or sealing is a lower-cost option that leaves the ACM in place under a certified control plan. We advise when this is appropriate versus removal.
Glovebag & localised removals
For small, localised items (like a short run of eaves or a small patch), the glovebag technique minimises disruption and cost while maintaining safety.
Air monitoring & post-removal clearance
Independent hygienist clearance testing may be recommended for higher-risk or larger jobs. C&A coordinates monitoring where required and provides the results and clearance certificates.
Documentation & disposal tracking
Every C&A job includes waste tracking and disposal certificates. Fixed-price quotes specify disposal costs and provide a final disposal docket upon completion.
How C&A structures fixed-price quotes
Our fixed-price quotes are designed to remove surprises. Each quote is written, itemised and based on a site assessment or clear photos and measurements where access is limited.
- What is included: labour, PPE, wet methods, containment, double-bagging/wrapping, transport to EPA-licensed facility, disposal fees and disposal documentation.
- Clear exclusions: extra structural work, unforeseen additional ACM beyond the scope, council permits (where required) — these are listed separately so you can see any potential extra costs up front.
- Scope changes: If we find additional asbestos during works, we stop, document and provide an updated fixed quote before continuing.
- Payment & paperwork: You receive a job scope, safety controls summary and final disposal docket on completion.
Fast response: C&A offers quick, no-obligation assessments — many quotes issued same day or within 24–48 hours depending on location.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get a fixed price without a site visit?
Often we can provide an indicative fixed price from clear photos and measurements. For larger or complex jobs we prefer a short site visit to confirm access, quantities and controls before issuing a final fixed-price quote.
Do your quotes include disposal fees?
Yes. C&A quotes include transport to an EPA-licensed facility and disposal fees where applicable. These are itemised so you can see exactly what you're paying for.
Will there be additional costs if more asbestos is found?
If additional ACM is discovered, we will stop work, document the issue and provide an updated fixed-price quote before proceeding. We always communicate changes and seek your approval.
Is air monitoring included?
Air monitoring is included where required or recommended for clearance. For lower-risk jobs it may be offered as an optional extra and is clearly priced in the quote.
